The Slayed Afro

Happy Saturday Darling Divas!!

Yes, I know that this isn’t a day that I usually post, BUT I meant to come up here yesterday, and that just didn’t happen. So I thought to myself why not put it up today? And obviously, here that post is. I have new hair!! I decided to go big with it this time around, and I am in love with it!!! So in today’s mini-blogpost I am just sharing my new hairdo, and I hope you all will enjoy! So sit back, what the video, and meet me below for more details!

Did you all enjoy? I hope so! I am definitely lovingggg my new look! Click here to cast your vote in the poll!  Being blonde is always fun for me, so I decided to take it back for a second. I dug into my archives and found some blonde pics of me. Oh, how I miss bleach sometimes.

So I wanted to get back to my blonde roots, but this time, no bleach was required! For this crochet install, I searched around for blonde hair that had dark roots because I wanted to look natural. I went to my beauty supply store and was lucky to find what I wanted!!

So this is the type of hair I used to achieve my look. The Durban Twist hair from Harlem125. I used three packs of RT27, and one pack of F1B/27. This is some big hair yall!!! So, for now, im rocking it as an afro, but I plan to put curls in soon.  This hair can do so many things, and is super soft! So click here to purchase online!  The website I linked is a longer length and comes in different colors. If you’re looking for the same hair as mine, I would look at your local beauty supply store, or do a further search online!

So, ladies, that’s it for today’s mini-blogpost! Be sure to come right back here next week for two new blogposts! ANNDDD a special announcement is dropping next Saturday so get ready!!! Feel free to follow me on my social media. They are all linked above!! I love you lots like tater tots, I hope you have a great weekend, and I will see you Monday!

Hair Info
I got 4 packs of the Vivica Fox Kinky Marli Hair. I ended up using 3 of the packs and cut each of the packs in half. I installed the hair as is, and didn’t do anything to the hair. I loved the curl pattern as is, so I kept it that way. You can click here to buy it online and in many other colors.

Pre- Braided Braids?

Hello All My Darling Divas!
Welcome back to the blog! Today we are going to discuss my latest crochet braids installment! Yes these are crochet braids, and YES I changed my hair AGAIN! (lol) I am forever changing my hair up, and when I saw these braids my last black and blue style had to go! If you want info on that hairstyle though feel free to click here for the deets!  But today its all about the purple! My latest crochet braids are actually crochet Senegalese pre-braided twist! What will the hair gods think of next! I discovered crochet pre- twisted and pre-braided styles a couple of months ago, but I’m just now getting around to trying them out. And let me tell you ladies I am H O O K E D! You get the same style, look, and feel of braids with the process time pretty much cut in half! Braids like this usually mean sitting on your butt for a good 5+ hours, but I only sat in a chair for 2hrs and boom, braids done! Braids in under 5 hours? I will take that any day! Of course when it came to color choice I had to grab something bold and funky, and this deep purple was just perfect for me! I haven’t actually had purple hair yet, so this was my way of trying out a color that I haven’t yet. I will definitely be revisiting purple hair again.

The brand of hair that I used was Janet and this is hair is in the style Noir Tantalizing Twist Braid in the color purple. This is what the pack looks like for reference if you would like to use this exact brand and color.

This is how the hair looks inside, and outside the pack! The hair is about medium length which is fine for me, but if you want longer braids I would suggest finding another brand. I brought 10 packs of hair to be safe but only ended up using 5. My hair was purchased at Hair World located in Bear, Delaware. You can also find this hair online by clicking here and here. Always be sure to check your local beauty supply store. You never know what you will find!

Caring for this hairstyle is simple. It’s pretty much how I care for my hair when I have braids installed, but since this is a crochet style, I don’t need as maintenance or product. Pictured are the three main products that I’ve been using in my hair so far. I use the Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey to moisturize my scalp, the Cantu Edge control to slick down my edges and, the Lusters Pink Sheen Spray to add a bit of shine and moisture to my braids. If it wasn’t for curlbox  I wouldn’t have been introduced to two of the three products pictured below, so shout out to them!

Pics!
So ladies I hope you have enjoyed today’s blogpost! I have a feeling that these pre- braided crochet braids are going to be an obsession of mine for a while, so don’t be surprised if you see another batch sometime later! If you give this look a try, or have already, share your pics in the comment section below or tag me in your pics on social media! They are all linked above, and I would love to be connected with you! My addiction to crochet braids is REAL, and they just keep coming out with more hair for me to try! And I will not stop until I try them all! (lol) This blog post concludes the post for this week ladies! I will see you all next week with two new blog post’s! so until then love ya lots like tator tots, and have a fabulous weekend!

Black & Blue

Hello All My Darling Divas!

Welcome back to the blog! We are now back to our regular scheduled programming here on the blog, and were going to kick it off by talking about my new hair! I have yet another crochet braid installation, and yall know I have to give you guys all the details! You guys know my stylist Shirley hooked me up, and this time I wanted some long hair!  I was going to just do an all black style, but I needed a pop of color. You can never go wrong with blue in my book, so I grabbed a pack of blue hair, and this fabulous hairstyle was born!

For this style I used 5 packs of the Harlem 125 Brand of Kanekalon Braiding hair in the color 1 and 1 pack of the color Navy . To achieve the curls in this hair I used small perm rods, and followed this tutorial here. This is the same method and hair that I used for my last crochet braids. I just used a different color, and didn’t cut the packs in half.  I would recommend getting more hair then you need  just in case. I love this curl pattern sooo much! It’s a very tedious and long process, so be prepared!
Every night I put my hair in four bantu knots, and I just put a silk bonnet on my hair and go to sleep. I slick my edges down with the Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea Edge Tamer that I received in my curl box a couple of months ago.
I am really loving crochet braids! It has been my go-to style all year, and there is no telling when I’m going to give it up! Here is just a quick view of all my crochet styles that I have done this year! They are such a fun and inexpensive way to switch up your hair!
So ladies that’s it for today’s blogpost! Be sure to meet me back here tomorrow for your second blogpost for this week! Feel free to follow me on social media! They are all linked above! I would love to be connected with you! Until tomorrow, love ya lots like tator tots!

These are my recent crochet braids installment and I am loving it! I used 4 packs of the Harlem 125 Brand of Kanekalon Braiding hair in the color 613. To achieve the curls in this hair I used small perm rods and followed this tutorial here. I cut each of those packs of 4 in half. I would recommend getting more hair then you need though just in case. I love this particular set of crochet braids because it allows me to style them in many different ways and I am loving that! It is so similar to my actual hair. Every night I just put a silk bonnet on my hair and go to sleep. The curls still keep in tact. I slick my edges down with the Design Essentials Natural Honey & Shea Edge Tamer that I received in my curl box a couple of months ago.

Burgundy Hair Reveal

Happy Monday Darling Divas!!

If you follow me on my social media then you have already seen my gorgeous new hairstyle! Yes ladies I switched up my hair yet again, and this time I decided to play with my length. This is still yet another crochet style, and I am so pleased with how it came out! This video just gives you the details on this hairstyle, and I swear I am having sooo much fun experimenting with this crochet hairstyle! So enjoy this short video and meet me below for more details and pics!

Did you enjoy the video?? I really hope so! I have really been enjoying switching up my look so often! If you have checked out my Hair growth plan video that I made a couple of weeks ago I said that I would be switching up my look often so that I wouldn’t suffer from product buildup and breakage. When I protective style I have a habit of not taking care of my hair. So by taking my hair down each month, I don’t suffer from the bad habits of protective styling that I usually have to face! If you want some tips on protective styling then check out my blogpost/video about it here. And if you want to check out my hair growth plan blogpost/video then click here.

In the video I said that this hair is the same hair that I used in my very first crochet hairstyle which is pictured below. It is just in different color.

I used 3 packs of the Jamaican Twist Braid Marley Hair from the brand Equal. The Color I used was a 530. It was 4.99 from my local beauty supply store. I cut the 3 packs in half at the rubber band, and rolled  the hair on orange and purple cold rods to achieve the curls. I wanted to go for a short hairstyle this time around since I always do long crochet braids and guys I think I am in love! I think I may be rocking it short for awhile!

So ladies what do you think of my new style? I am IN LOVE!! It is soo perfect for the fall! The curls have already dropped and I cant wait to see this style transform over the next couple of weeks.

So ladies thank you soo much for watching! Be sure to follow me on my social media! They are all linked above. Be sure to come back tomorrow for another blog post! I am trying to post for you guys Mondays & Tuesdays at 5PM! Let’s cross our fingers and hope I can stick to that! So until tomorrow love you lots like tator tots!
