Layering Lesson

Hello All My Darling Divas!

Welcome back to another day on the blog! Today’s blogpost is going to be all about layering! Layering your outfits maximizes your wardrobe, and turns pretty much everything you own already into multiple outfits. I layer my outfits in every season, but I do it more in colder months because of the temperature. Layering gives your the illusion that your wearing complete outfit with a top and a bottom, when in actually you may be wearing 2-3 separates to make up one outfit. It’s pretty much a fun way to get dressed, and today I am going to show you guys how I like to layer up!

When it comes to layering my outfits I always pick out an article of clothing and figure out which part I want to be my top and bottom. This determines which part is going to be covered with another layer of clothes so that it looks like one complete outfit. It’s always best to start off with solid piece and not separates. So for example I am starting off with this dress from Fashion to Figure. Layering using a solid piece allows you to have a better foundation to put clothes on top of.

So I have decided to cover up the bottom half of this dress so that I looks like I am wearing just a peplum top. When your covering the bottom half for layering you want to make sure that the article of clothing you choose covers the part of the clothing your trying to conceal. So for this outfit I decided that I would go casual and dress it down. I threw on a pair of jeans from Burlington coat factory, and now it looks like I’m wearing just a peplum top and jeans. When in reality I am  wearing a peplum dress and jeans. God I love layering. (lol)
Layering Bonus: I like adding sometype of jacket or cardigan to make the look feel more compete. Also a jacket can cover up anything that’s going to give your layering secret away! For this look in the back the fabic was bunching up, so I simply added a jacket and boom! Now the outfit is all done.

Now for this second part of the lesson I was going to show you how to conceal a top of a dress to make it look like you have on bottoms. But unfortunately it’s laundry day which left me with not alot of clothing options for this post. (We have all been there! lol) So I am going to show you again how to layer a dress so it looks like you have on a top and different bottoms. I decided to dress up a simple dress,  since I just dressed down a party dress.

So here I have a simple burgundy dress from H&M
Just something casual that kinda needs some dressing up. So I just take this gorgeous skirt from Eloquii to conceal the bottom half of this dress. In less than 2 seconds this simple dress transforms into a pin-up inspired night on the town. Well with the proper accessories and makeup.
Layering Bonus: Belts can be your best friend when it comes to layering! They help to hide the start and end of each of your layers. In this outfit you cant really see but you can kinda tell I stuffed a dress under this skirt because where the bottom begins doesn’t match up with where the top half ends. That can simply be covered with a belt! It adds a bit more pizzazz to the outfit, and covers up any layering mishaps. I got this hounds tooth printed belt as a gift.
So ladies that’s it for today’s layering lesson. Layering is the secret to some of my best outfits that I have ever rocked! Here is a collage of just some of the outfits that I have created by layering.
When you don’t have the money to buy new clothes, or need to create an amazing outfit and haven’t quite gotten all the pieces you want from your favorite stores, layering comes in handy! It allows you to create custom outfits, and get creative with your fashion! You have no idea how many times I have people asking me “Is that new”? or “Where did that skirt or top come from”? When in reality they have probably seen me wear that piece of clothing a thousands times, just all in diffeent ways! Have fun with your closet, and getting dressed!

Pre- Braided Braids?

Hello All My Darling Divas!
Welcome back to the blog! Today we are going to discuss my latest crochet braids installment! Yes these are crochet braids, and YES I changed my hair AGAIN! (lol) I am forever changing my hair up, and when I saw these braids my last black and blue style had to go! If you want info on that hairstyle though feel free to click here for the deets!  But today its all about the purple! My latest crochet braids are actually crochet Senegalese pre-braided twist! What will the hair gods think of next! I discovered crochet pre- twisted and pre-braided styles a couple of months ago, but I’m just now getting around to trying them out. And let me tell you ladies I am H O O K E D! You get the same style, look, and feel of braids with the process time pretty much cut in half! Braids like this usually mean sitting on your butt for a good 5+ hours, but I only sat in a chair for 2hrs and boom, braids done! Braids in under 5 hours? I will take that any day! Of course when it came to color choice I had to grab something bold and funky, and this deep purple was just perfect for me! I haven’t actually had purple hair yet, so this was my way of trying out a color that I haven’t yet. I will definitely be revisiting purple hair again.

The brand of hair that I used was Janet and this is hair is in the style Noir Tantalizing Twist Braid in the color purple. This is what the pack looks like for reference if you would like to use this exact brand and color.

This is how the hair looks inside, and outside the pack! The hair is about medium length which is fine for me, but if you want longer braids I would suggest finding another brand. I brought 10 packs of hair to be safe but only ended up using 5. My hair was purchased at Hair World located in Bear, Delaware. You can also find this hair online by clicking here and here. Always be sure to check your local beauty supply store. You never know what you will find!

Caring for this hairstyle is simple. It’s pretty much how I care for my hair when I have braids installed, but since this is a crochet style, I don’t need as maintenance or product. Pictured are the three main products that I’ve been using in my hair so far. I use the Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey to moisturize my scalp, the Cantu Edge control to slick down my edges and, the Lusters Pink Sheen Spray to add a bit of shine and moisture to my braids. If it wasn’t for curlbox  I wouldn’t have been introduced to two of the three products pictured below, so shout out to them!

Pics!
So ladies I hope you have enjoyed today’s blogpost! I have a feeling that these pre- braided crochet braids are going to be an obsession of mine for a while, so don’t be surprised if you see another batch sometime later! If you give this look a try, or have already, share your pics in the comment section below or tag me in your pics on social media! They are all linked above, and I would love to be connected with you! My addiction to crochet braids is REAL, and they just keep coming out with more hair for me to try! And I will not stop until I try them all! (lol) This blog post concludes the post for this week ladies! I will see you all next week with two new blog post’s! so until then love ya lots like tator tots, and have a fabulous weekend!
